美國鄉村民謠傳奇Willie Nelson今年即將邁入八旬，但就如他說的年紀不過是個數字。他即將於4月16號發行最新專輯‘Let’s Face the Music And Dance’，裡面收錄了美國傳統民謠和鄉村經典，並由他和樂團共同錄製，而他的生日也正好在同月的30號。
Willie Nelson的歌唱生涯從1956年開始，雖然他一開始在歌唱生涯成績並不特別理想，但在70年代時因與Waylon Jennings開始合作並發動Outlaw country運動，反抗當時的納什維爾之聲（Nashville Sound）一成不變的風格，後來Willie Nelson又發展出紅脖子搖滾（Redneck）融合了民謠和搖滾。
Willie Nelson的另一個標誌就是他使用Martin N-20 尼龍弦的木吉他，與他演奏超過40年，他把它命名為“Trigger.”。這把古典吉他沒有pick-guard的設計，而Trigger最為明顯的地方在琴身上有一個大洞。Willie Nelson說過：「如果Trigger壞掉了，我就會退出樂壇。」
在樂壇上Willie Nelson也得過許多獎項和殊榮，他得過10次葛萊美音樂獎，並在1993年選入鄉村音樂名人堂，1998年獲得甘迺迪中心榮譽獎，2000年獲得葛萊美終身成就獎，在他成名的德州Austin並有以他命名的一條路，可說是美國鄉村音樂界的活傳奇。
